Plasmon resonance at the hot spot of metal nanoparticles

We are interested in the mechanism of spectroscopic signal enhancement by metal nanoparticles. The particular nanoparticle structure of our interest is the metal nanoparticle dimers with a very narrow gap (< 10 nm). We have been successfully fabricating this nanostructure by electrochemical deposition of multiple metal layers in a porous template followed by selective etching of the sacrifice layer. Various linear and nonlinear micro-spectroscopy methods are employed to study the plasmon response at the junction of the nanostructure.
